Direct from Carrara: Building Quarry Partnerships (2010)

By 2010 Jiecheng Stone had moved to direct sourcing, building long-term relationships with several marble quarries in the Carrara region of Italy.

Around 2010, Jiecheng Stone began buying blocks directly from partner quarries in the Carrara region of Italy instead of through intermediaries. The move shortened the supply chain and gave the company control over grading from the very start.

Direct relationships matter because white marble is not a uniform product: colour, veining and soundness vary from block to block. Working with the same quarries year after year makes it easier to keep grades consistent across repeat orders. The company’s main varieties are still sourced this way — Jazz White (Volakas) comes from Greece — and buying at the source, then cutting and finishing in-house, remains the core of how Jiecheng keeps quality and price predictable.
